Wayne Harmon Congressional Candidate Indiana District 7

Biography of Wayne Harmon from Wayne Harmon for U.S. Congress 2012

As a 5th generation Marion County Resident, I have seen and heard a lot of stories about this county. The 1st generation of my Indianapolis’ family resided near Riverside Park on Udell Street.

As for myself, I have always called Indianapolis my home and now residing on the east side area. From growing up in the Brightwood and Brookside
neighborhoods to graduating from T.C. Howe High School and Indiana University, I have seen this district evolve in many different directions. The values and loyalty that I have learned from Howe H.S. carried over into my service in the U.S. Marine Corps. After fighting in Iraq and retiring from the Marines in 2005, I am now back home in Indiana and continuing my service in local government.

I was born here in Indianapolis, Indiana along with my brother and sisters. As a kid growing up in Brightwood and Brookside neighborhoods, my first elementary school was IPS #54. Twelve years later I graduated from Thomas Carr Howe High School with great memories of running cross country, wrestling and football (FF).

After High School, I became a 2nd generation Marine by following in my father’s footsteps and enlisted in the Marines Corps. As I travel up and down the Pacific Rim, I was afforded the opportunities of international travel and experiences throughout my life.

In the middle of my career, I was able to return home and attend Indiana University in Bloomington. At Indiana University, I obtained a double major by studying Criminal Justice and East Asian Studies (Japanese Language).

After returning home to family and friends, I continued my fight for justice by being a probation and parole officer for the citizens of Indiana. As a Probation Officer, I personally conducted Revocation Hearings against my own probationers for failure to comply with their probation. I have and will always continue to fight for Justice with the same integrity that I had when I was in the United States Marine Corps.
